Today was our first day working over at the farm.
We began cleaning things up and clearing some of the garden.
Everyone helped out!

It is important to wear the appropriate head gear while farming!
It was a gray day here, and in the 50's. It was cold, but not miserable.
Joe had a great time running around playing. We brought the Tonka dump trucks out but the shovels and rakes were much more exciting!
McDonalds coffee got us through the morning!
Everyone loves to play with sticks!
The kids collected worms for the chickens!

Time for an apple snack!

Yes, those are his crackers in the bottom of the wheelbarrow. I decided not to care. I just reminded myself that "God made dirt...dirt don't hurt", right?
The boys wanted to do everything Brian was doing!
The wheelbarrow was a little unwieldy for Isaac, but he had fun pushing it!
Camille helped me check on the chickens!
These two are Buff Orpingtons that look like the chicken she raised last spring named Charlotte. They came right up and ate out of her hand. When I asked her what she wanted to name them, she said, "I want to name them both Charlotte because they look just like my old chicken Charlotte." Then she thought for a moment and said in a happy laughing way, "Now I have two Charlottes!!" Sounds good to me; I don't think we could tell them apart anyhow!
I think we will name the rest soon!
At the end of the day, we had cleaned up a lot and cleared about a quarter of the original garden. We have a lot of work ahead of us to finish preping the garden. We are also going to move the chickens into a new coop and enclosure down next to the garden.
We had a great day!
